Thousands of years ago, Steppenwolf and his Parry Army tried to conquer the Earth through the combined energy of three Mothers. They were thwarted by an integrated army that included the gods of Olympus, Amazons, Atlantis, humanity and green lanterns. After removing the Steppenwolf soldiers, the mother's boxes are separated and hidden in places around the planet.Today, the world is mourning after Superman's death. It triggers the reactivation of the Mother Boxes and the return of Steppenwolf to Earth to regain the mercy of his master, Darkseid. Steppenwolf manages to recover the box of Themyscira's mother, prompting Queen Hippolyta to warn her daughter Diana Prince about the return of Steppenwolf by burning an invasion. The Prince joins Bruce Wayne in his attempt to combine other metamorphs with their goals, Wayne tackles Arthur Curry and Barry Allen, while Prince tries to find Victor Stone. Both failed to convince Curry and Stone, but managed to recruit an enthusiastic Allen in the team. Stone later joined the team after his father Silas was kidnapped, along with several other S.T.A.R. Employee Lab, by Steppenwolf, looking to buy Mother Box at home.
Meanwhile, Steppenwolf attacked Atlantis to recover the next Mother Box, forcing Curry to act. The team received information from Commissioner James Gordon who led them to the Steppenwolf army, based in a facility left behind Gotham Harbor. Although the group managed to rescue the abducted employees, the facility was inundated during the fight, trapping the team until Curry helped delay the flood so they could escape. The stone recovers from the last Mother's Box, which he has hidden, so the group can analyze it. Stone reveals that his father used the master box to rebuild Stone's body after the accident nearly spent his life. Wayne decided to use the master box to raise Superman, not only to help them fight the Steppenwolf army, but also to restore hope to mankind. Prince and Curry are reluctant, but Wayne is forming a secret emergency plan if Superman returns as an enemy.Clark Kent's body was dug and placed in the waters of the Kryptonian ship incubator next to the mother box, which in turn activated and rekindled Superman successfully. However, Superman's memories do not come back, and he attacks the group after Stone accidentally throws a missile at him. On the verge of being killed by Superman, Batman imposes an emergency plan: Lois Lane. Superman calms down and goes with Lois at his family's home in Smallville, where he thinks and tries to find his memories. With the last Mother Box without protection, Steppenwolf easily finds it.Without Superman to help them, the five heroes go to a village in Russia where Steppenwolf aims to unite the mother's box and make a remake of Earth. The team made their way through Parademons to reach Steppenwolf, although they could not distract him enough for Stone to separate Mother's box. Superman arrives and helps Allen evacuate the city, as well as Stone who separates the mother's box. The group managed to defeat Steppenwolf, who, overwhelmed by fear, was attacked by Parvanya himself before they teleported.As a result of the fight, Wayne and Prince agreed to rebuild Wayne Manor as a base of operations for the team, with additional space for more potential heroes. The prince returns to the spotlight as a hero; Allen got a job at the Central City Police Department, which impressed his father; Stone continues to explore and improve his abilities with his father in S.T.A.R. Labs; Curry returns to Atlantis; and Superman continued his life as a Clark Kent journalist. In the post-credit scene, Lex Luthor escapes from Arkham Asylum and recruits Slade Wilson to form their own league.
